GOOD TO KNOW

Reservations

Bookings at the Seebad Starnberg: Please plan to be at the entrance 30 minutes before your booking starts. If the weather is good, you can expect to spend a long time looking for a parking space and waiting at the cash desks.

Especially for courses, it is essential that you are there from the start and without stress. We start on time.

Important: If you are 10 minutes late after the agreed time, we can no longer guarantee the reserved boards. There is no right to “add on” the missed minutes.

Entry to the Seebad is not included in our prices. With proof of booking (please show on your mobile phone upon request), you will receive the paddling rate of just €5 for 2.5 hours.

Weather

Our SUP events take place in any weather, as agreed. Exception: If persistent rain, strong wind or thunderstorms are forecast, we will cancel. We will let you know in good time and there will be no costs for you. We will then offer an alternative date. Please also inform yourself about the current weather conditions. If you cancel even though the weather is suitable for paddling, the cancellation costs will apply, see below.

Right of way rules

  • Right before left
  • When going in the opposite direction, both must give way to starboard RIGHT
  • Stand up paddlers are classified as rowing boats and must give way to scheduled ships, commercial ships, sailing vessels, fishing boats (tow lines!) and bathers
  • Stand up paddlers actually have the right of way over motorboats. In general, however, it is better to keep your distance than to force the right of way.
  • Very important: always keep an eye on the weather situation and storm warning. The weather can change quickly on the lake.
  • The storm warning is indicated by an orange flashing light in the area of the harbors. In this case, you should immediately start your journey home near the shore. If necessary, continue paddling on your knees, as the surface area exposed to the wind is reduced.
  • Never go further out than your own fitness allows!
  • International emergency signal for swimmers, surfers, sailors, boaters, etc. who are in danger, is a slow and repeated raising and lowering of the arms stretched out to both sides (don’t wave!)
  • Keep a distance of 300 meters from steamer piers
  • In your own interest, do not enter protected areas (e.g. marked by signs on buoys)!
